Here are some tips to help the environment

Tip number one: Analyze your garbage

Based on your garbage you can tell what you should reduce. To start, just pick one or two things to reduce. You then have to find an alternative for this product and replace it. If you finish one thing, just find another product that you think gets thrown away much to often. With this you can improve your waste situation at home.

Tip number two: Don´t buy plastic bottles

Plastic bottles are a huge threat to the environment. Each year millions of those bottles find their way into the oceans, despite our ability to recycle the plastic used for the bottles. These bottles disintegrate into microplastic and pollute the water and poison the animals living inside it. There are even entire islands floating on the ocean, completely made out of garbage. The biggest of all is called "The great pacific garbage patch" and is three times the size of France.

Tip number three: Buy/use reusable products

Products throw away afterone single use are one of the biggest trash makers. But products like Cotton pads, wet wipes, Zewas and disposable towels can all be replaced. For example, you can buy washcloth to get rid of make-up, cleaning rags to wipe dirt of your table, and so on. In Germany, 248kg of paper are used per year with hygiene papers, making up 10% of it. This means, every year 25 kg paper per person are wasted.

Tip number four: Bring your own bags

There are enormous amounts of articles, discussing what bag to bring if your shopping. Most of them conclude it´s better to bring your own bag instead of a plastic bag. That makes sense, regarding the recycling process of plastic. Yearly 68,000 tons of plastic are used just for plastic bags, and thats only Germany. Germany isn´t that big of a country and if you imagine how much a big country like the United States produces, where sustainability does not yet play such a major role, you should immediately start to use your own bags or equivalents to them.
